Some people really want to see the world in pieces. American imperialism has just authorized the use of American weapons to attack targets within Russia.
Biden, as he turns off the lights in the White House, decides to measure how much Russia can withstand American provocations and has just doubled down.
The war in Europe is already lost for Ukraine, and nothing that may happen from now on will change the outcome.
I believe Biden wants to leave this legacy for the Ukrainians. Trump, in this way, does not need to be responsible for authorizing this type of attack and can simply let it continue without worrying about being held accountable for it in the future. After all, the order did not come from him.
The big question that remains is: what will Trump do when he gets to the White House? He is a fierce critic of this war and, on previous occasions, has said he would end it in a few days, although he did not say how he would do it. Being a demagogue, of course, anything can happen. But I believe the promises he made during the campaign will weigh on his future decisions, as well as his legacy of abandoning multilateralism in world institutions.
Russia, knowing this, will most likely not escalate the war. Any false move here could cause exponential growth in the conflict. They should wait for the new occupant of the White House to make their move first, like in a game of chess.
Despite the aggressive rhetoric of European countries, none of them are in a position to create or sustain a European war at this moment. It would be an unnecessary adventure, especially when the populations of their countries suffer from high public debt.
