War is always initiated by the ruling class of a country and declared against the same class in another nation.
You might argue that Russians support the war, but we cannot ignore the ideological campaign driven by the media. The national identity is a construct of this ruling class, using the same methods of influence.
People around the world have much more in common than it seems. They want to raise their children, pay their bills at the end of the month, and enjoy a good quality of life. Wars provide the exact opposite. It is entirely against the interests of the people. I highly doubt that anyone wants to see their homes burned and their families torn apart for something they never desired.
The ruling class simply uses people to achieve what they truly want: profits. On one side, Russians are seizing immense natural resources from Ukraine. On the other side, there is a strong attachment to power and obedience to the United States, which ultimately aims to diminish Russia’s influence. Most European countries follow similar patterns, representing the interests of their specific ruling classes.
Seeing Americans authorize strikes with long-range missiles on Russian territories saddened me. They should target Putin’s residence, not destroy the lives of innocent people. The same applies to the ruling class of Ukraine. This, in turn, makes the dangerous escalation of the war a clear possibility.
However, this will only change when people take control of their destinies. Such change should be driven by the workers of each country against their own ruling class, without intervention from other countries.
